Customer Challenge:
Ardurra Group, Inc, based out of Tampa, FL with offices all across North America is one the nation’s fastest growing engineering firms. With a commitment to the success of its clients and partners, Ardurra is able to tackle the most challenging engineering problems. Ardurra was asked to take the lead on a cutting edge rare earth element demonstration plant in Wyoming. With the bulk of the plant designed the need for additional conveyors to link the process equipment was identified. One conveyor was needed to convey from the discharge of a mechanical separator to the inlet of a pug mill skid. Another conveyor was needed to convey from the discharge of the pug mill to the transport container. Both units needed to be inclined and to include the inlet/outlet transition and supports to hold the conveyors. With this being a demonstration plant the cost of the equipment was a factor. In addition, the life of the plant was limited so quickly delivering a turnkey conveying solution was a high requirement. Ardurra reached out to SCP to provide a custom solution for this application.
SCP Solution:
SCP engineers worked closely with the Ardurra engineering team to design the screw conveyors to fit all their needs while keeping cost and delivery as a high priority. The first conveyor required a custom inlet to mount to the ANSI flange and then incline to the inlet of the pug mill skid. The layout required the conveyor to be inclined and avoid interference with the existing support structures and skid base. The second conveyor collected the aggregate waste from the pugmill, requiring a custom inlet hopper to then convey the waste to the transportation bin. Both conveyors used compact gearmotors mounted at the top of the conveyor and SCP master seals mounted at the bottom to keep the aggregate waste from leaking out. Both conveyors were inclined and therefor the capacity had to be adjusted the HP increased to account for the additional load on the drive. SCP designed, built and assembled these conveyors both on budget and on time.
